HUDSON -- For the second time this summer, the First & Main Green will be transformed into a one-stop summer fun spot July 5 for parents and children alike.

Fun at First & Main returns this month after its initial summer start in June. The event, sponsored by Akron Children's Hospital and Northeast Ohio Parent magazine returns to First & Main with a treasure hunt from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event, which is free, is targeted toward parents and children from 2 to 9 years old. The fun includes crafts, treasure hunt, glitter tattoos, giveaways and a variety of games. On July 5, a speaker will discuss seasonal allergies at noon.

"It's been greatly attended by the Hudson community and lots of families," according to Courtney Hudson, community outreach and education coordinator for Akron Children's Hospital. "It provides a wonderful fun and educational day out for kids and their families."

This year, like last year, there were three scheduled events, Hudson said.

The rain date for this week's event is July 6. The third event will be an Aug. 2 water-themed event with an Aug. 3 rain date.

"All the activities are on the Green. There is music and there will be vendors set up. It's a very well organized event," Hudson said.

Registration is required but only one per family needs to register at funatfirstandmainjuly2017.eventbrite.com/.

Registration for the August event begins July 11.

Other events include music and giveaways by 95.5 THE FISH, spin the wheel of Fun, glitter tattoos by 5 Star Talent, football toss, activity and prize wheels and balloon creations by The Twister Girl Balloon Company massages from The Womb Wellness Center and a variety of speakers.

"It's just a way to engage the community and give them a fun day out with them and their families," Hudson added.

"Summertime is a time when we want kids to be outside having fun. But we want them to be safe and we always have an injury prevention focus at the event. It's an interactive event kids and families can enjoy."
