Hudson Community Education and Recreation has created a summer enrichment program that will have children learning everything from how to be a doctor or veterinarian to how to improve their skills in 14 different sports, to how to design fashion and even how to ride a horse.
HCER is the place for summer learning and playing opportunities for those from ages 3 to 18, as well as adult programs. New this year are two camps that give children a taste of medical careers. Little Medical School brings medicine, science and the importance of health to children ages 5-10 in an entertaining and exciting way.
Little Veterinarian School encourages children ages 5-10 to role play as veterinarians, learn how to take care of pets and use real medical instruments. Another new program is the colorful Skyhawks Beginning Golf, designed for ages 5-10 to learn proper technique and refine the skills of the game of golf.
Snapology camps using technology and building blocks allow kids to delve into Pokemania, Video Game Design, Robots and Star Wars. Camps are offered in both half day and full day options.
Another new option for the younger set, those ages 5-7 can join us for Super Hero Training Camp, Pirates and Pixies Camp, and Secret Agency Spy Camp, all camps designed to bring awesome adventure, into a non-stop, action-packed ° day camp experience. HCER is also the home of Safety Town, offering four sessions for those entering Hudson's kindergarten in the fall.
For older campers, grades 5-8, have the opportunity attend the Hudson Summer Fashion Academy, a full-day, week-long program where students with a passion for fashion can complete creative projects in fashion design. A trip to the Rockwell Museum at Kent State University is the highlight of the week.
Back by popular demand are our two sessions of Hudson Theater Camp, this year featuring Adventures in Neverland and You Gotta Have Friends. Also available are Summer Music Strings Camp, Hudson Middle School Band Camp, and Art in the Park, for music and art enthusiasts. Want to learn how to play the guitar? There are Friday Guitar lessons. Survivor Camp for those who want to learn about outdoor survival, and take part in an overnight camp experience, is back for another year, along with new adventures for Road Trip. Adventure Camp for teens, including whirlyball, paintball, canoeing and kayaking and an ultimate escape challenge.
For those athletes who want to improve their game, HCER offers sports specific camps in lacrosse, golf, cheerleading, football, baseball, track, soccer, field hockey and volleyball. All camps are directed by Hudson High School coaches and assistants and help kids truly excel. HCER also offers archery, golf and horseback riding camps for all ages.
The 10 weeks of Jump Start Sports Day Camp have been reimagined and revitalized with cool themes each week, ranging from multi sports, to ultimate frisbee, to college days, to color games and Olympic sports. New this year are Funtastic Fridays, a fun way to end the week with awesome activities that are included in the price of camp.
